DIY Storage Shelving for less than $100
This is great! Now how can the mirror be removed without damaging the wall? I'm thinking about following this technique, but in a rental, so the mirror will be removed after a year. Thanks in advance.
try mirror adhesive. This is a permanent installation technique
I understand the vids 3 years old but why in the world are you not using mirror adhesive!!?
Is the mastic going right into the painted wall? Is the only thing holding up the mirror the adhesion from the mirror to the paint? What if the paint separates from the dry wall?
Thought this would help Robert with wrapping porch post...Judy
Is there a certain weight limit that this type of adhesive will hold?
How did you make the corner trim pieces (L)? Thanks and awesome work
Should of filmed the staining process. That finish looks like it turned out great.
some of you are underestimating how strong adhesives can be
What is the maximum weight that would be supported with this method?
would add more dabs of caulking for larger mirrors, no limits here
Jesus just put the drywall on
Nature is a bitch , it can and likely trow a lot of water at houses so if that wall you build after two days bent because of wet backfill i wonder is that wall was filled with enough rebar and has the concrete the right PSI to be strong enough to stand the pressure . Also has the concrete long enough time to harden .
Back-filling doesn't happen in our area until the basement slab has been poured and the floor system is installed with sub floor.
that's an excellent practice
Thanks for the upload. Wife and I are getting ready to build on our dream lot soon and I was curious how involved clearing the trees would be. Question for you if you don't mind? Our land is slightly sloped, to the point where if we left it as is we would most likely need to build a home with a walkout basement. If we didn't want a house with a walkout basement, is it extremely difficult and expensive to level out the entire lot to make it more flat? Also, is making your lot more flat a bad idea? I've heard sloped lots are better since they allow for better water drainage. Thanks again for the video!
I agree sloped lots are better for drainage when they are sloped properly. We especially like when the lots have a slop directly to the back of the property so we can incorporate a walkout and get large windows in the basement.
Excellent presentation. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Using standard wood workers glue on the exterior of a structure is completely wrong and will not last more than a year. This is a major flub by this person.
Absolutely beautiful work. Thank you so much.❤❤
me gusta hacer eso
Good vid, but the amount of nails & screws 🤯
Can certain adhesives leak through the silver back of the mirror, and create a ghost like design on the front of the mirror. Just moved into a new house and all the mirrors in the bathrooms have these odd ghost like designs in different areas on the mirrors.
what stain did you use? I'm doing some cedar post on a porch as we speak and I really like this color, Thanks in advance
Goudey Gunstock Walnut (Dark Chocolate)
Appreciate the response, Thanks!@@GreenmarkBuilders
why not replace the stud
if is not structural you don't need to worry about cutting the stud. you may run into the new stud twisting in the future.
Dang, y’all put a lot of work into this. It looks great.
I want to take down the big mirror over my vanity and frame it with heavy tile(after adding a wood base) and rehang it SAFELY- it’ll be heavy…it currently has those clip things holding it u/on…I wouldn’t feel safe with just glue….we get frequent small earth quakes too….suggestions?
Please use construction adhesive, please no caulking. Caulking is NOT glue. It is a sealant. Ask for construction adhesive, and someone at the store will help you.
the construction adhesive needs to not get hard or your mirror will eventually peel off the paper on the drywall. Caulking and silicone allow some movement.
Until you want to replace it...
Thanks for the video. I am getting ready to start a new project for my family. I am curious about what you typically would use to backfill around the foundation when there is a full basement?
Sand is your best option if you have access to it.
Expo huebner lot
Dont need to draw a level line to start? We can just start of the floor all the way up?
if your floor is level
@@GreenmarkBuilders thank you
Great video! Would it be better to use liquid nails or a baseboard adhesive?
ill subscribe if you take off the hardhat and dont wear a v neck shirt for the rest of your life.
Clay cap. So I've heard 8 to 12 inches of top soil over a clay cap. But how thick should the clay cap be? Any recommendations?
Does the caulking affect the mirror backing?
What are you doing about your floors?
Flush cutting the bottom of the jambs to the height of the flooring and sliding the flooring underneath
@@GreenmarkBuilders what do you use a dremel?
@@GreenmarkBuilders what if there’s a Gap
Nice job. We did something similar but used cedar boards and nailed directly to original posts then stained them. Hopefully they hold up to the elements.
Use liquid nails better .
What is the size of bit for 3/4" baluster plus plastic cap? 3/4" bit is too small.
